The COVID-19 pandemic has created very unusual circumstances for us all and is challenging the way we go about our daily lives. One of the most important aspects in minimizing the spread of the virus, are the actions we take individually and collectively. At ICON Eyecare, we want to ensure you that your health, safety and the care we provide have always been and continue to be our sole focus. Equally important to us, is the wellbeing of those in our communities with whom we live, work and come into contact. With that in mind, and with the guidance provided by our national healthcare agencies, we’re taking the following steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while we continue to make our doctors, technicians and practice available to you.
Status Update – Thursday, March 19, 2020: In response to the guidance provided by our local, state and federal authorities and many national medical associations, we will be limiting operations at our clinical practices and surgical centers to emergent cases only until April 6th to help manage the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Check In: Mandatory Handwashing & Sanitizer
Upon entry to our offices, all patients and staff who enter the building are required to wash/sanitize their hands thoroughly and put on a mask. Our offices have ready access to hand sanitizers for the frequent use of patients, office staff, and caregivers. All our staff will be wearing masks. Patients will be brought back by our technicians if they are ready to be seen. Otherwise they will be asked to go wait in their cars until we are ready to see them. Other precautions may be added as we learn more.
We’re screening all patients to check for history and symptoms that might indicate the presence of COVID-19. This is occurring through our phone representatives when a patient-calls to schedule an appointment and when patient’s check-in at our front desk on their date of service.
Check in Symptomatic Screening – Procedure & Reschedule
All patients will be required to verify, and will be screened upon check in, that they have been symptom free for the past 14 days. Any patient who has experienced symptoms associated with COVID-19 within the past 14 days will be required to reschedule their appointment and urged to stay home to prevent possible virus spread. Symptoms to watch for, and included in our check in screening: cough, fever, and shortness of breath. If you are unsure, reschedule. Patient’s temperature will be taken at check in. Any patient who holds a temperature of 99 degrees Fahrenheit or above will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
Office Cleaning – Virus Killing Sanitation
Throughout the day, our office is being cleaned, sanitized and disinfected. Frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, countertops, payment processing points, are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a regular schedule. We are following Center for Disease Control guidance, using cleaning products designed to kill virus germs.
Medical Staff – Additional Training & Protocol
Our medical staff have all received additional briefing, training and have implemented protocols per the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Our staff has access to proper supplies to provide maximum safety to our patients. This includes masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and extra time to follow protocol safely and effectively.
