ICON Eyecare Introduces Most Advanced Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery in the U.S. to Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, CO (April 6, 2016) ICON Eyecare is the first in Grand Junction to offer Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery. The CATALYS® Precision Laser System is a next-generation laser cataract surgery system enabling ICON Eyecare surgeons to perform image-guided, preoperative laser lens conditioning with unparalleled accuracy and patient comfort.

A tracked laser is used to make the incision and help guide the procedure. “The technology removes the need for a blade during cataract surgery and allows for increased precision, safety, and control,” says James Fox, MD, of Hoffman Eye Care and ICON Eyecare.

Research began in 2005 on the CATALYS and it has undergone six years of clinical studies and trials. Through this sophisticated system, each patient receives a customized 3D treatment plan. A bladeless, computer-controlled laser allows our surgeons to plan and perform surgery to exact individualized specifications. “It’s truly breakthrough technology. We are very excited to be the first in Grand Junction to offer this world-class cataract technology,” says Dr. James Fox.
