ICON Eyecare & Vision Health International Host Free Eye Clinic

Patients received free eye exams and glasses during the clinic

ICON Eyecare in Grand Junction recently partnered with Rottman Eye Care  and Vision Health International (VHI) to host a free eye clinic at the Rottman Eye Care center in Grand Junction. Team members and volunteers saw more than 200 patients in one day. In addition to free vision screenings and eye exams, patients were given free reading glasses, sunglasses, and prescription glasses. The ICON Eyecare team enjoyed the opportunity to treat a variety of patients and ensure their eyes are cared for.

“Rottman Eye Care and ICON Eyecare are improving lives through vision beyond clinic walls,” said Randy Rottman, MD, ophthalmologist, and founder of Rottman Eye Care. “We saw a need for this type of clinic in our community, and we wanted to be the organization to fill that void. It is an honor to provide eye care to the underserved community here in Grand Junction.”

“I will never forget the first time that I volunteered at this eye clinic,” said Shane Spehar, ophthalmic technician supervisor at Rottman Eye Care. “I had the opportunity to deliver a patient his first set of glasses when he could not afford them before. I will always remember his face lighting up saying, “so this is what it is like to see.” From that point on, I knew I wanted to help my community by giving them the gift of sight.”
